Abstract

The Western Ghats, the pride of South India, are a mountain range located in the western part of India. The Western Ghats block the cold winds coming from the Arabian Sea in the west and bring rain to Kerala and other parts of the western coast located on its upper reaches. The Western Ghats are one of the eight places in the world with the richest biodiversity. About 5000 species of flowering plants, 139 species of mammals, 508 species of birds, and 176 species of amphibians are found here. The mountain, which was called Pothiyam and Pothiyil during the Sangam period, is now called Pothikaimalai.The Himalayas in the north and the Pothikaimalai in the south are the high mountain ranges that the Tamils ​​visited. This research article aims to explain about the kings who ruled the Pothikai mountain, the special one (aaiandiran king)among them, and about the Pothikai mountain, which is a part of the Western Ghats.
