Abstract

The state of Kerala Known as "God's Own Country", continues to be a treasure trove of faith. Culture is a reflection of human life. Every human society has a culture. The beliefs, customs, moral practices, and culture of a society are a manifestation of the values ​​held by that society. This research article is about a load Bearing stone found in Palakkad district of Kerala. Building a load Bearing stone was created as a charitable act, a form of charity, and a way for the wealthy people in the villages to display their wealth. When Hindu women who are fully pregnant die, their relatives place the load Bearing stone on the roadside as a way of peace and to pay their respects. This article attempts, through field study, to explore the culture of ancient people as reflected by the sumai-thaangi (load-bearing stone), the history behind its origin, the impact it created in society, and the present condition in contemporary times.
