Abstract

In S. Dharman's novel "Sool", the importance of proverbs in enhancing its narration as to provide it more relatable and engaging for common readers is described. Generally, use of proverbs is a literary technique employed by creative writers to convey emotions and ideas effectively. Proverbs, along with other techniques like imagery and metaphor, assist to transfer emotions and make the content deeply accessible to common readers.  In oral traditions, proverbs, puzzles, folksongs are used to convey messages and make them easier to understand. S. Dharman, the author, has effectively used proverbs to enhance the narration of his novel "Sool", making it more engaging and purposeful. Proverbs add a layer of depth and meaning to the narrative, making it more impactful.They provide a cultural context and help readers connect with the story on a deeper level. The use of proverbs showcases the author's narrative talent and ability to convey complex ideas in a simple, yet effective manner.
