Abstract

Abstract: Tamil is an ancient and illustrious classical language in this world. Swami Vipulananda became famous by writing extensive research work such as books, translation books, poetry, sermons, discourses and articles in this language. He is also known as Muthamil Vidhakar and Prabodha Chaitanya.  It cannot be said in one word that the reason for his popularity because of his proficiency in the mother tongue Tamil. Swami Vipulananda is a multi-lingual scholar. He is well versed in Sanskrit, English, Latin, Yavana , Bengali, Sinhala, Pali and Arabic languages. Such a multilingual personality, concern for the social and community and his commitment to national interests made him famous more in this universal.  Although he was multilingual, each of his works makes it clear that he was deeply involved in the Sanskrit. Although he was an enthusiast of Tamil, he did not ignore Sanskrit either and carried out research work in both languages. This study is to look at what kind of stance Swami Vipulananda had towards Sanskrit and Tamil language, and how he has contributed to Sanskrit. This research intends to explore the issues exemplified in Swami Vipulananda’s YazhNool, Madangasulamani, VipulanandaAaivu, VipulanandaSelvam and VipulanandaVellam using comparative, analytical and historical methods
