Abstract

Those who have no prior knowledge of the Tolkappiyam may understand it as an ancient epic. It is the oldest of the Tamil grammar books, preceding the Nannul, Neminatham, Grammar Explanation, Intema and Outma books, but the Tolkappiyam texts themselves testify that there may have been some other grammar books before this book. Although it is not the first book, it is undoubtedly the most complete grammar book available. It is a historical treasure trove of Tamils ​​and a repository of human values. It is a social portrait of a society where the king and the people lived together, and a collection of words that illustrates the cultural development of the Tamils. This article examines the anthropological values ​​of purathinaiyiyal.
