Abstract

Literature serves as the foundation for all cultural elements. Culture signifies refinement or the practice of traditions, and this literary framework has been present from the Sangam era to contemporary literary traditions. Sangam literature depicts the lifestyle of ancient people, whereas modern literature, through genres like poetry, short stories, and novels, illustrates contemporary life. Generally, when a novel takes prominence, its theme remains centred around the same context. This study analyses the portrayal of female Dalit characters in the novel Sangati by the female writer Bama, which holds significance in this regard.
